Taking a few moments to focus on our health today can be an important step towards a healthier tomorrow.
As part of Project Sunkalp, a cancer screening camp was conducted at Kaliyampoondi Community Hall, Madurantakam, bringing preventive healthcare and early detection services closer to the local community.
A total of 60 beneficiaries participated in the screening, including 29 men and 31 women.
The camp provided:
• 31 iBreast Examinations
• 60 Oral Examinations
• 20 Pap Smear Tests
The screening identified 1 gynaecological screening finding requiring further medical evaluation and follow-up. This is a screening finding and does not by itself confirm a cancer diagnosis. Appropriate medical consultation and follow-up are important for further assessment.
The participation of both men and women highlights the importance of making cancer awareness and preventive screening accessible to everyone. Breast and cervical cancer screening can be particularly important for women, while oral cancer screening helps promote awareness and early identification of concerning changes among the wider community.
Cancer may not always show noticeable warning signs in its early stages. Regular screening can help identify suspicious changes early and encourage timely medical consultation and follow-up.
For many communities, accessing specialised healthcare can be challenging due to distance, cost, time, or limited awareness. Project Sunkalp works to reduce these barriers by bringing cancer screening services closer to people through community-based camps and local healthcare facilities.
Every person who comes forward for screening is taking a proactive step towards understanding and protecting their health. Together, such initiatives can help build more informed, healthier, and stronger communities.
Through Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to work with PHCs, local communities, healthcare professionals, and CSR partners to expand access to cancer screening across Madurantakam.
Early detection can make a difference. Let’s make regular screening a part of our preventive healthcare routine.
